Technology is my jam!
Hello! My name is Dr. Brenda Quintanilla, and this is Techxas Toast, my personal blog about innovative technology and technology in education. Many of the posts on this blog will be about Artificial Intelligence. As such, I have decided to use AI as a tool to write these posts. All posts and images on TEChxas Toast are created with the assistance of artificial intelligence, which helps with content generation, outlining, and drafting. My goal is to provide insightful and valuable information about educational technology, using AI as a tool to enhance the speed and quality of my content.
I bring over 25 years of experience leading educational technology initiatives across K–12 and higher education. My expertise spans EdTech integration, distance learning, immersive environments, AR/VR, instructional design, artificial intelligence, and professional development. I am a former President of the Texas Digital Learning Association (TxDLA) and an active contributor to state and national conversations on educational technology through conference presentations and advisory committees. Recent leadership highlights include serving as a 2024 EDUCAUSE Horizon Report panelist, a TxDLA Board Member at Large, and as a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s A2I Learning Technology Advisory Subcommittee. I hold an M.S. in Instructional Technology from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Ph.D. in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas.
In my current role as Regional Manager of Innovative Instructional Technology and Learning Services at Houston City College in Houston, Texas, I oversee and manage the Center for Learning Innovation staff and learning lab spaces for eight labs, spanning five campuses. We facilitate innovative processes and strategically allocate resources to support institutional plans and goals. This includes conducting pilots and evaluating Innovative Instructional Technology such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Immersive Environments, 3D Printing, and AI. I also teach as an adjunct professor at Sul Ross University in the Master of Education Program in Educational Instructional Technology.
